Two-vehicle accident kills Cottage Grove, Minn. man in Trimbelle Township Sunday


TRIMBELLE - A two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 10 near CTH. O in Trimbelle Township Sunday evening killed one of the divers.

At approximately 10:16 PM the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of  the accident with in 
A 2012 Ford F350 truck was traveling westbound on Hwy. 10 and was being operated by a Charles E. Hill, 38 years old from Ellsworth. A 2008 Infiniti G37 was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 10 and was being operated by a Jacob T. Stanger, 21, Cottage Grove, Minn.

Initial investigation shows that both vehicles collided head-on. Both operators were the lone occupants of their vehicles. Stanger was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pierce County Medical Examiner. Mr. Hill was transported by the Ellsworth Area Ambulance Service to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. with undetermined injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was contacted to complete a reconstruction of the accident. The Pierce County Highway Department provided traffic control for the highway to be shut down while the accident was investigated. The highway was closed for approximately three hours.

\The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Ellsworth Ambulance Service, Ellsworth Fire Department and the Pierce County Highway Department.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
