MADISON - The Prescott High School Boys' Basketball Team won its first-ever game in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Tournament in two appearances as they defeated No. 3 ranked Lake Mills 74-67 Thursday afternoon at the Kohl Center.
No. 6 Prescott will take on No. 2 Appleton Xavier in the Division 3 state championship game Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
PHS rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final eight minutes of the ballgame. Nick Simon and Luke Murphy hit several key three-point baskets in the Cardinals' rally and PHS sank nine of 11 free throws.
PHS's Owen Hamilton led his team in scoring with 33 points while teammate Pete Brookshaw scored 14 points and Simon and Joe Roosen each had nine points. Murphy made 11 assists. Lake Mills' leading scorer was Alex Ranney with 20 points.
