No. 6 Prescott advances swiftly in regional tournament

The Prescott High School Boys' Basketball Team, ranked No. 6 in WIAA Division 3, stepped quickly from the regional tournament semifinals to the finals Friday evening with a 90-50 win over Barron at Prescott High School.

The Cardinals broke out to the early lead and subbed deep from their bench throughout the game as their margin was 51-21 at halftime. Running clock was used late in the second half as PHS maintained a 30-point plus lead.

Owen Hamilton led the Cardinals in scoring with 23 points and Peter Brookshaw finished with 20 points. It was announced before the game both players made first team All-Middle Border Conference with Luke Murphy being placed on the second team and Nick Simon receiving honorable mention. Simon finished with nine points as did Joe Roosen while Murphy scored seven points.

PHS improved to 20-3 overall while No. 8 seed Barron concluded its season 6-18 overall. The Cardinal host St. Croix Central in the regional tournament championship game tonight at 7 p.m. The Panthers, the No. 5 seed in the tournament field (PHS is No. 1) upended No. 4 Osceola last night 52-40.
