The new system was designed by the Evenbridge Company and is replacing an older system after its contract had expired last year.
“We looked at a lot of online companies for their notification systems and we found this one to be the best for our needs,” Gary Brown, Pierce County Director for Emergency Management, said. “This system is less expensive and more user friendly.”
The system is designed to notify two types of user – internally within the county, such as alerting the dive team for an emergency on the Mississippi or St. Croix rivers for example, and externally to those who sign up. Mass notifications for emergencies can be sent by email, or text or by phone call to cell phones or landlines.
