Prescott's Sanford takes fourth at state wrestling meet

MADISON - Prescott High School wrestler Ty Sanford took fourth place at 195 pounds in the 74th WIAA State Wrestling Tournament Saturday at the Kohl Center.

Sanford won his first match of the day, in overtime 5-3 over Wrightstown's Matt Van Eperen by scoring the winning takedown in the extra session. That put Sanford in the third place match where he lost to Lomira's Collin Feucht 7-2.

Sanford becomes the first PHS wrestler to place at state since the 2015 state meet.
