Prescott girls basketball team downs Glenwood City in season opener

GLENWOOD CITY - The Prescott High School Girls' Basketball Team defeated Glenwood City 45-33 in its season opener Tuesday at Glenwood City High School.

The Cardinals used a 20-0 run early in the second half thanks to an effective press which caused turnovers PHS turned into easy baskets. Prescott led 20-16 at halftime.

"We're not in the kind of game shape to run a press for two halves after just a week of practice," PHS head coach Ron Murphy said. "But our press was very effective to change the momentum of the ballgame in just one half."

Ali Murphy led the Cards' in scoring with 17 points and Mackenzie Carey finished with 10 points. Heather Furlong scored five points.

Prescott's next contest is next Tuesday at home vs. New Richmond.
