A late rally by New Richmond helped the Tigers overcome Prescott for a 57-54 Middle Border Conference girls' basketball win Tuesday evening, the first prep basketball contest in PHS's new gymnasium.
The Cardinals led at halftime 30-24 and led 44-32 midway through the second half before New Richmond came back to tie the game at 48-48 with 3:25. The outcome hung in the balance until the Tigers outscored the home team 5-1 in the final minute of the ballgame.
Ali Murphy led PHS in scoring with 18 points. Teammate Heather Furlong had 15 points and Katelyn Miller finished with seven points.
Prescott drops to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the MBC. The Cards' next contest is next Thursday, Dec. 1 at Osceola. They return home to face Amery 24 hours later.
