Despite closing the regular season with a loss to Ellsworth, the Prescott High School volleyball team was still able to snag a top-three seed and a home match in the upcoming WIAA regional tournament.
Prescott, 19-15 overall, was given the No. 3 seed in their regional tournament bracket and will host No. 6 Somerset Tuesday at 7 p.m. This will be just the fourth home match the Cardinals have had this season and its against the same opponent they opened their new high school gym against. The Cardinals beat Somerset 3-2.
If Prescott wins they will take on the winner of the Bloomer/Baldwin-Woodville match Thursday. Bloomer is the No. 2 seed and B-W the No. 7 seed. In other tournament match-ups, No. 5 seeded Ellsworth is at No. 4 St. Croix Central. The winner gets the No. 1 seed and the state's No. 5 ranked team in Division 2, defending regional and sectional champion Altoona.
The regional finals are set for Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the location of the higher remaining seeded team.
