Prescott spikers fall in final regular season match to Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH - The Prescott High School volleyball was beaten 3-1 by Ellsworth in its final regular season match of the 2016 season Tuesday evening.

The Cardinals won Game 1, their first Game 1 win in Middle Border Conference play since their first league match this season against Amery, by a 25-18 score. But the Panthers were big winners in Game 2 by 25-15 score and the edged out the Cards in more closely contested Games 3 and 4 by 25-23 scores.

Serving was a decisive factor in Ellsworth's win as the Panthers got 10 aces past Prescott's defense, five in the second game alone.

PHS, finishes the season at 19-15 overall and 4-3 in the MBC in a second place tie with Ellsworth. The Cardinals will learn their WIAA Division 2Regional Tournament seed and pairing this evening.
