The No. 3 seeded Cardinals were able to win Game 3 by a 35-33 score to keep the match going.
However, the No. 6 seeded Spartans dispatched Prescott 25-16 in Game 4 to win the match and end Prescott's season.
Somerset won the first two games 25-22 and 25-23. Prescott had a good lead in Game 2 and lost it and the same happened in Game 3. Somerset led 21-18 in the final game before a Prescott rally extended things for quite some time.
"They didn't want the season to end," PHS head coach Patti Tulip said. "That's where they found the energy to keep going as long as they did."
But instead of melting down Somerset kept its composure and jumped out to a 12-4 lead in Game 4. Prescott came no close than seven points in the final game.
Prescott ends its season with a 19-16 overall record. The Spartans move on to face No. 2 seeded Bloomer Thursday in Bloomer. The Blackhawks swept Baldwin-Woodville 3-0 Tuesday evening. In the other half of the bracket, No. 1 seed and No. 5 ranked Altoona faces No. 4 seed St. Croix Central, which edged No. 5 seeded Ellsworth 3-2 last night.
