Prescott Mayor David Hovel voted a measure passed by the city council to grant a Class A Liquor and Beer License to the new Dollar General store. Hovel made veto announcement on Friday.
In the announcement, Hovel stated the reason for the veto was that Dollar General had provided no plan to close off the section in its store where liquor and beer would be sold away from minors unlike other establishments in Prescott which have such areas of their stores.
The Prescott City Council had voted 4-1 to approve the license. If they wish to override Mayor Hovel's veto they a two-third's vote of alderpersons at the next city council meeting which is this Monday starting at 6:30 p.m.
