Cardinals scores points but B-W scores win

BALDWIN - One streak ended but another continued Friday evening at King Field behind Baldwin-Woodville High School.

The Prescott High School football team finally broke their scoreless streak at 13 as freshman running back Joseph Schulte made the end zone on a six-yard run.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, their winless streak is now at nine games as they lost to the Blackhawks 41-6.

PHS fell behind 14-0 very early in the ballgame. A blocked punt by B-W's Alex Wieske he scooped up and returned 25 yards for TD gave the 'Hawks a two touchdown lead for the rest of the first half.

Prescott's defense was able to keep B-W out of the endzone for the rest of the half but gave 14 points in the second half thanks to big plays for the home team. Prescott's offense turned the ball over four times (three interceptions and one fumble) and three additional fumbles in the ballgame the Cards recovered. One of those INT's was returned by sophomore Alex Bishop 38 yards for a TD and the home team led 35-0 before the fourth quarter.

Bishop also set up a pair of Blackhawk TD's with good punt returns and threw a 10-yard jump pass for a touchdown to Isaac Nilssen in the third quarter.

Schulte's TD run came midway through the fourth quarter during running clock. Schulte led his team in rushing.

Prescott concludes its regular season next Friday at home vs. St. Croix Central. For more on this game read next week's print edition of the Prescott Journal, on newsstands Wednesday.

Prescott's Ty Sanford and a teammate pull down B-W quarterback Alex Bishop with PHS's Ian Water (61) closing in and Carson Stenroos (7), Austin Morrison (23) and Aaron Lubich (17) rushing in to help.
