The Prescott City Council unanimously approved a motion to vacate an alley in town located
in Block 1, Rodney Johnson’s Addition during its most recent meeting Monday evening.
The vote came after a public hearing which had considerable discussion on the topic. In fact there were public hearings on the matter for the past two council meetings. The discussion centered over property surveys and real estate sale concerns from the home owners adjoining the alley, which is bordered by Henry, James, Hampshire and Canton streets. Half of the alley will be given to adjoining property owners. Some six such owners will receive eight and one quarter foot additions in depth.
The council went into closed session over a possible land purchase by the city in TIF District No. 4. While no action was taken after the council returned to open session, the council directed the city to try and get a right of first refusal on the property in question.
