New Prescott High School opens today on first day of school

While the official opening isn't until Sept. 19, students, teachers and staff are breaking in the new Prescott High School today, Sept. 1.

This is the first day of school for public schools in Wisconsin and first day for the use of the new school building. Students entered and picked up their schedules in the expansive entryway area which faces the courtyard. Entering the building to their right is the main office and hallway to classrooms. To their left is the cafeteria, new gymnasium and the entryway to to auditorium, which is still under construction. Planned completion for the auditorium is next month.

Prescott Middle School also begins classes today. Both Malone Elementary and the new Malone Intermediate schools are going through an orientation day today and will officially open for classes on Friday.

Read more on the beginning of the new school year and the new additions and changes in the Prescott School District in next week's print edition of the Prescott Journal, on newsstands and in town on Wednesday.
