The annual meeting of the Prescott School District approved the 2016-17 school year budget Wednesday evening. The meeting was held in the Prescott Middle School library.
The approved budget has a tax levy of $8,875.004, which is up from last year's budget levy of $8,715,836 and also has a higher mill rate of 12.41 percent compared to last school's year's 12.19 percent.
These numbers are not final as district still has to report its enrollment numbers in early September for finalized state aid. Once those numbers are in, the levy and mill rate could be adjusted depending on the amount of state aid. The final budget will be approved by the school board at either its October or November meetings.
