Acquital, hung jury and guilty are verdicts in Kuehni trial

ELLSWORTH - Three different verdicts were handed out by a Pierce County jury of nine men and five women in the murder and corpse hiding case of Rose Marie Kuehni and Douglas Bailey, both of Prescott.

After deliberating for almost 24 hours since receiving the case yesterday, at 2 p.m. the jury came back to the courtroom in the Pierce County Courthouse with a not guilty verdict on the first-degree murder charge against Kuehni, 45 in the the death of her ex-boyfriend Doug Bailey, 51; a guilty verdict against her for hiding Bailey's body and not reporting his death to authorities and a hung result on the charge of second-degree murder.

The next phase in the trial will be another court date, scheduled for Aug. 24 to determine whether or not the state will re-try the case on the second-degree murder charge. Kuehni remains in custody at Pierce County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
