The Prescott Pirates continued to stay hot in July with wins three wins this past weekend.
In the annual “River Rumble” during Hastings Rivertown Days celebration on July 15, the Pirates rallied for a sweet and satisfying 6-5 victory over the Hawks. With the Pirates trailing 5-4 late in the game, Derrick Monson drove in two runs with a clutch hit to propel Prescott to the victory. Overall it was a balanced hitting attack as the Pirates delivered 12 hits at the plate.
The next day Prescott returned home to face Plum City on Saturday at Firehall Field. Although the Blues are struggling this summer and entered the game with a 4-9 league record, Plum City had been playing better baseball as of late. And the Blues stayed close with the Pirates early on until Prescott broke the game open late and scored a 6-1 victory.
On Sunday, July 17, the Pirates were impressive again in an 11-1 win in seven innings at Bay City. Eric Monson started on the mound and was the winning pitcher. Logan Johnson had four hits and Lytle added three hits with two RBI.
