Two from Minnesota die in Pierce County motorcycle accident on Memorial Day



A motorcycle accident killed two riders in Pierce County near Ellsworth on Memorial Day.

At approximately 6:11 p.m. on May 30,  the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was called to a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV on US Hwy 10 at 450th Ave. in Ellsworth Township.   

A 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by James D. Marinaro, 58, New Brighton, Minn., along with passenger Denise Thomas, 52, Blaine, Minn. was traveling westbound on Hwy. 10 approaching the intersection of 450th Ave. A 1995 Ford Explorer being operated by a Brieanna K. Davis, 20, Ellsworth, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 10. Davis reportedly attempted to make a left hand turn to travel east on 450th Ave. The motorcycle struck the Ford Explorer as it was attempting to make the turn. Marinaro and his female passenger were both ejected upon impact. The motorcycle and automobile started on fire as well. The operator and passenger of the motorcycle were pronounced deceased on scene by the Pierce County Medical Examiner. Davis was transported by the Ellsworth Ambulance Service to the River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries.
 
Wisconsin State Patrol was contacted to assist with accident reconstruction. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Ellsworth Police Department, Ellsworth Fire Department, Ellsworth Ambulance Service, and Wisconsin State Patrol. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
