Pirates get weekend sweep

The Prescott Pirates amateur baseball team downed St. Croix Falls 13-5 Saturday and Plum City 9-0 last Sunday to improve to 12-4 overall and 8-2 in the St. Croix Valley Baseball League.

Prescott then topped St. Croix Falls at home on a hot, a humid Saturday. Winning pitcher Eric Monson struck out eight for Pirates. Alex Ross had three hits and scored three runs. Mike Brookshaw had two hits, including a double while Billy Brookshaw also had two hits. Burmeister had a team-best four hits while Prescott’s Logan Johnson scored three times off two hits.

Prescott closed out its successful weekend with a 9-0 shutout of Plum City at Legion Park in PC. The Pirates were ahead 3-0 in the fifth when Dan Pfeffer belted an RBI-double for a 4-0 lead. Prescott plated four runs in the sixth with RBIs coming from Trevor Moses on a double, Billy Brookshaw with a single, Mike Brookshaw with a sacrifice and a single from Lytle.

The Pirates will be off this week except for those players taking part in the SCVBL All-Star Game this Friday in River Falls. The contest begins at 7 p.m. at First National Bank Park.
