Stand off at abandoned River Heights apartments ends in arrest

One suspect was taken into custody this evening after holding police at bay for several hours at the abandoned former River Heights villas Friday on the corner of Oak and Elm streets in Prescott.

The suspect was described as male, 6-0 and in his mid-30s. A call to the authorities reported the suspect in the building and also reported "shots fired" although no evidence has discovered so far in the preliminary stages of the investigation nor was the suspect armed at the time of arrest. No injuries were reported.

Personnel from the Prescott Police Department, Pierce County Sheriff's Department and Hastings Police searched the abandoned building and set up a perimeter around it.

More on this story as it becomes available and in next week's Prescott Journal, on newsstands Wednesday.
