PLUM CITY - The Prescott Pirates amateur baseball team finished in third place at the annual Plum City Blues Memorial Weekend Tournament held at American Legion Park.
The Pirates defeated Hudson 5-4 on Saturday in the first round, then took their first loss of the season Sunday vs. Elmwood by a 5-1 score. But Prescott bounced back to win the third place game later on Sunday with a 6-0 shut out of the host Blues.
Elmwood went on to win the tournament for the first time by a 12-1 score over Ellsworth on Monday, Memorial Day.
Last weekend's action brings Prescott's record to 5-1 overall. The Pirates will be back in action Saturday against Ellsworth starting at 1 p.m. at Firehall Field. Prescott also hosts Menomonie this weekend, a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
