OSCEOLA – The Prescott High School Track and Field Team were certainly need a bus to escort its athletes to the WIAA Division 2 Medford Sectional Meet this Thursday.
PHS qualified athletes in three relay races and individual events at Monday’s D-2 Osceola Regional Meet.
Two of those relay teams were champions. Prescott the nine-team field in the 3200-meter relay, the girls winning in 10:09:59 and the boys’ in a season-best time of 8:29.44. Members of the girls’ team are Molly Sweet, Samantha Ritter, Hailey Hillman and Annika Carlson. Running for the boys are Bobby Barksdale, Cody Hauenstein, Nolan Schock and Philip Pena.
Pena was an individual winner in the 3200-meter run in 10:19.73 as was Nolan Schock in the 800-meter run in 2:03.17 and Jennifer Kleinschmidt in the 100-meter high hurdles in :15.73 seconds.
Top place winners qualify for sectionals. Those qualifying for Prescott were Katie Burmood in the 100-meter dash, third; Kleinschmidt in the 300-meter low hurdles, third; Sweet with a third in the 1600-meter run and a fourth in the 3200-meter run; Annika Carlson, second in the 800-meter run and the girls 1600-meter relay team of Kleinschmidt, Carlson, Ritter and Kjerstin Carlson, third.
Thursday's sectional meet will begin at 4 p.m. at Medford High School.
