PHS Softball team's march to the MBC title begins with shutout win

If the Prescott High School softball team wins four straight Middle Border Conference games this week, they will win a share of the MBC title.

The Cardinals' march to the title began Monday with a 3-0 win over Osceola in a rescheduled contest at Biggs Field in Prescott. It's the ninth straight win for PHS.

Winning pitcher Kaili Wescott struck out seven batters in a two-hit performance. Top hitters for the Cards were Megan Brownell and Haley Miner with two each. Brownell was honored as the lone senior on the team on Senior Day. Brownell also drove in two runs. Kate Miller hit a double.

Prescott, 18-1 overall and 10-1 in the league, plays at Osceola today, hosts New Richmond Wednesday in a re-scheduled contest and concludes its regular season Thursday at Baldwin-Woodville.
