Prescott's Hamilton receives Division I offer

Owen Hamilton, the 7-0 foot junior center on the Prescott High School basketball team has received a scholarship offer to a Division I collegiate basketball institution.

Mark Miller, editor of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook, tweeted this evening that Hamilton received a scholarship offer from Utah State University.

Utah State is a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Aggies finished with a 16-15 overall record last season, the first under head coach Tim Duryea. He replaced long-time USU coach Stew Morrill last season after the later retired. The Aggies last played in the NCAA Tournament in 2011.

The Aggies play at the 10,000-plus seat Spectrum Arena in Logan, Utah, considered one of the best home court advantages in the country if not one of the loudest college basketball venues in the country and certainly within the Mountain West Conference.

Hamilton is playing for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors hoops squad during the spring AAU season.

Hamilton was named all-state Division 3 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association along with being All-Middle Border Conference first team as well.
