RIVER FALLS - The Prescott High School Boys' and Girls' Track Teams began their 2016 season at the New Richmond Indoor Invitational Thursday at the Knowles Center on the UW-River Falls campus.
Prescott hurdler Jennifer Kleinschmidt set a new meet record winning the 55-meter hurdles in nine seconds even. The old record was 9.22 seconds set by Sara Krig of Somerset back in 2013.
Also winning for the Cardinals were Annika Carlson in the mile run in 6:15.98 and the Cards' 3200-meter relay team of Annika and Kjerstin Carlson, Molly Sweet and Hayley Hillman in 10:51.96. The PHS's placed fourth in the six-team meet.
The PHS boys' placed fifth. The best showing from the Prescott boys came from its 800-meter relay team of Jared Brantner, Ian Lipcinski, Trystin Boettcher and Austin Morrison which finished second. Cody Hauenstein placed fourth in the mile run and sixth in the 800.
