PHS softball team makes short work of SCC in MBC opener

It took a long time for the Prescott High School softball team to play its first game of the season but not to play the actual game itself.

The Cardinals routed St. Croix Central 15-0 in three innings Thursday afternooon at Biggs Field in Prescott.

PHS junior first baseman Bekah Miller blasted a two-out, three-run homer into left field in the bottom of the first inning to send the Cardinals on their way to the big win. PHS led 3-0 after the first inning and 12-0 after the second before scoring three runs in the third to end the game.

Winning pitcher Kaili Wescott tossed a no hitter. Katie Miller led the Cards with five RBIs. Also driving in runs for the winning team with RBI singles were Hayley Miner and freshman McKenzie Carey playing in her first varsity contest.

Prescott is at the Lake City, Minn. Invitational this Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
