PHS athletes win firsts at Prescott Invite

The Prescott High School Track and Field Team had a number of first place winners in the Prescott Invitational held at Laney Field Thursday afternoon.

For the third meet this season the Cardinals swept the 800-meter run event. Winning for the boys was Nolan Schock and for the girls Annika Carlson. Schock won in a time of 2:13.71 and Carlson's winning time was 2:31.50.

Prescott also won both 3200-meter relay races. The girls' team of Molly Sweet, Sam Ritter, Carlson and Hayley Hillman won in a time of 10:35.03 while the boys' team of Bobby Barksdale, Phil Pena, Ben Barksdale and Schock won in a time of 9:02.95.

Other winners in the boys' meet for PHS were Cody Hauenstein in the 1600-meter run in 4:57.88 and Chase Zimet in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 38 feet, eight inches.

Katie Burmood won the 100-meter dash in the girls' meet in :13.92 seconds. Other PHS girls who took first were Alysse Lewis in 400-meter dash in 1:07.40; Jennifer Kleinschmidt in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles in times of :16.45 seconds and :49.05 seconds. Kleinschmidt also helped the Cardinals' 1600-meter relay team win first in 4:30.78. Also on the team are Julia Cleasby, Sam Ritter and Annika Carlson.

Prescott's next meet is Tuesday at the Baldwin-Woodville Invitational.
