(Update) County dive teams find vehicle in the Mississippi River, confirm its missing vehicle with woman's body inside

HAGER CITY - Pierce County Sheriff's Department dive teams found an overturned white vehicle in the Mississippi River Wednesday afternoon, March 16 near the area of Hwy. 63 and Timberland Rd.

County sheriff's officials and the Red Wing, Minn.  Police searched the area today and discovered the vehicle. It turned out to be the vehicle of a missing Hager City woman whose body was discovered inside.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office confirmed this evening that the body found inside the Dodge Caravan with Wisconsin license plates 443 VPF was that of 23-year old Marya Ann Christiansen.

Christiansen was reported missing Saturday when she failed to come home from a party she was at Friday evening in Red Wing. An extensive search took place involving Pierce and Goodhue County sheriff departments along with Red Wing Police. Many family, friends and volunteers also took part in private searches which covered southern and southwest Pierce County and all the way into Pepin County.
