Prescott's Kimmen wins regional title, Sanford also qualifies for sectional

ELLSWORTH - Prescott High School wrestler Dillon Kimmen won the title at 220 pounds at the WIAA Division 2 Ellsworth Regional Saturday afternoon.

Kimmen pinned Ellsworth's Jacob Kinneman in the finals in 4:55. He scored another pinfall wib for the Cardinals in the semifinals by sticking Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee's Quinten Melville in 3:30.

Kimmen will represent PHS at next Saturday's individual sectional meet in Osceola joining him will be teammate Ty Sanford. He qualified at 195 pounds finishing second. He won a key match in the semifinals over second seeded Brady Hetke of Bloomer/Colfax by a 12-5 decision which put him in  the title match and avoided a wrestleback.

Kimmen will take on Osceola's Tanner Johnson in the first round of sectionals. Sanford faces Spooner freshman Joshua Carroll in his first round match. Wrestling begins at 10:30 a.m. at Osceola High School.

Taking third for Prescott in the regional meet were Ethan Tulip at 106, Mason Cable at 120, Cody Atherton at 132, Matt McNurlin at 160 and River Christensen at 182. The Cardinals finished fourth in the team standings. No. 1 ranked Ellsworth was the big winner scoring over 300 points and advancing to the team sectional at Melrose-Mindoro High School this Tuesday.
