PHS scores 90 again in MBC action, tops Ellsworth

The No. 9 ranked Prescott High School boys' basketball team had its sixth 90-plus point contest this season Friday, a 92-48 trouncing of Ellsworth at Prescott High School.

Except for some ties early in the first half, the Cardinals, 18-3 overall and 13-1 in the Middle Border Conference, led their Highway 10 rivals from start to finish as their vaunted 1-3-1 zone defense harassed Ellsworth's guards mercilessly for the entire ballgame.

PHS was led in scoring by Mike Harris's 27 points. Owen Hamilton finished with 20 points, Nick Gehlen had 14, Keegan Nielsen finished with 10 points and Peter Brookshaw scored nine points.

The MBC's leading scorer, the Panthers' Drake Flom, led his team with 16 points.

The Cards close their regular season Monday vs. second place St. Croix Central with the tip-off at 7:30 p.m. It's not only the final game for the PHS's seniors but also the final regular season contest for Prescott in its old gym.
