PHS basketball teams split non-conference games

The Prescott High School boys and girls basketball teams split non-conference games they played in Monday evening.

The No. 9 ranked PHS boys won at Elk Mound 69-55 while the girls' team lost at home to Spring Valley 51-46.

The Cardinal girls lost despite improved game on offense with three players scoring in double figures. Both Heather Furling and Kelsey Penk finished with team-best 13 points while Kate Miller scored 10 points. Prescott drops to 5-13 overall and is at River Falls tonight.

Prescott's boys team had four players in double figures in their 14-point win over the Mounders, 11-5 overall. Owen Hamilton and Mike Harris each scored 14 points while Payton Bartsch and Luke Murphy both scored 11 points. Peter Brookshaw returned to the line-up after sitting out the Baldwin-Woodville game last week due to an ankle injury.

PHS improves to 15-3 overall and hosts Osceola in a key Middle Border Conference game tonight at 7:30 p.m.
