ELLSWORTH – The Pierce County Board approved establishing 2016 salaries and benefits for county employees formerly represented by the Teamsters Union at its monthly meeting last week Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the Pierce County Courthouse.
This unanimous vote came on the second reading of the resolution. The employees were negotiated with separately after their union representation was decertified, stemming back to the Act 10 law passed five years ago which limited unions to negotiating salary increases only on the rate of inflation.
Other resolutions unanimously approved after second readings by the board was one supporting the Upper Pool 4 and Lake Pepin Habitat Restoration Project and a resolution approving the amount of new jail project financing to be published in the official statement.
More on the county board meeting in next week's Prescott Journal, on newstands next Wednesday.
