The No. 9 ranked Prescott High School boys' basketball team will welcome a new member of the team for this evening's Middle Border Conference contest at New Richmond.
Nick Gehlen, a 6-7 senior forward transferred to PHS from Woodbury, Minn. early last week to start the second semester. He had been on the bench in the Cardinals' last two ballgames vs. Ellsworth and St. Croix Central. He was cleared by the WIAA to play this evening.
Gehlen joins a squad desperate for more depth as injuries and illness have cut into a line-up which already had a limited rotation going back to the state of the season.
Tip-off for tonight's game starts at 7:30 p.m. in New Richmond. PHS is 7-0 conference play while NR is 4-3. The Cards have a two-game lead in the standings over Osceola and St. Croix Central.
Gehlen's first home game as member of the team will be on Monday vs. Durand starting at 7:30 p.m. also.
