Prescott basketball teams take losses Tuesday evening

Both the Prescott High School girls' and boys' basketball teams were beaten in action from Tuesday evening.

The No. 5 ranked PHS boys' basketball team lost a non-conference game at River Falls 53-49 while the girls' team lost at St. Croix Central 43-19 in a Middle Border Conference contest.

The Cardinal boys' team got a double-double from Owen Hamilton 15 points and 11 rebounds plus 19 points from Keegan Nielsen. But just two players in double figures weren't enough to prevent River Falls from winning its seventh game this season (7-4 overall). Prescott''s overall record is now 8-2.

Meanwhile the PHS girls' team fell behind 26-7 in the first half and couldn't recover in the second half. Kali Cress led SCC in scoring with 12 points. Prescott's record is 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the MBC.

The Prescott boys team plays at Hwy. 10 rival Ellsworth on Friday while the girls team will be at New Richmond, also on Friday.
