Rep. Ron Kind Supports Bipartisan Bill to Improve Education System

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Congressman Ron Kind of Wisconsin’s Third District recently voted in favor of bipartisan legislation in the House of Representatives to revise the long-outdated policies of No Child Left Behind and give Wisconsin teachers and students the tools they need to succeed.

“After years of waiting for a replacement for No Child Left Behind, I am pleased that we were able to craft a bipartisan piece of legislation that gives our teachers the flexibility to adequately address each student’s needs, rather than tying their hands with a one-size-fits-all approach,” said Rep. Ron Kind.

“It is more important than ever that we ensure each student has the education and skills they need to compete in an increasingly global, 21st century economy; and these commonsense reforms take a significant step toward achieving that.”

The passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act marks the most significant changes to our education system in the last 15 years. The legislation replaces the national school accountability system with a system that gives states more flexibility to self-assess, reduces the overall amount of testing, and puts an end to testing being the primary factor used when assessing school efficiency.
