Prescott School Board to have special meeting tonight

The Prescott School Board will have a special meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the Prescott High School Library.

The small meeting agenda has just two items, to go over a proposal for a referendum to appear on the February 16 election ballot which allow the district to exceed its state-imposed revenue caps and then to vote to put the proposal on the ballot.

District Superintendent Dr. Richard Spicuzza said in the last school board meeting the referendum is needed, otherwise over a million dollars in costs will have to be cut in personnel.

The board discussed and then approved a plan at the last meeting to have the referendum put on the February ballot so if it failed it can be brought up again before the end of the school year and before the district has to put together a budget for the 2016-17 school year.
