PHS Wrestling team downs Somerset in season-opening dual meet

SOMERSET - The Prescott High School wrestling team defeated Somerset Thursday evening by a 39-35 score in the season and Middle Border Conference opening dual meets for the Cardinals.

PHS came from behind twice in the latter part of the dual meet. Freshman Ethan Luksich scored a key pin in 1:11 at 145 pounds. The Spartans went ahead again after getting a pinfall at 152 but PHS Freshman Andy Ewing received a forfeit at 160 which clinched the dual meet win for his team.

Also getting pins for the Cardinal were Matthew McNurlin at 170, River Christenson at 195, Ty Sanford at 220 and Dillon Kimmen at heavyweight. The meet started at 170 poounds

The PHS wrestlers compete in the Ellsworth Invitational on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Ellsworth High School.
