ELLSWORTH - Members of the Pierce County Board expressed their general unhappiness with a letter sent to them by Pierce Pepin Electrical Cooperative at the board monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
The letter expressed concern over fair treatment of a bid by Pierce Pepin to provide electrical service to the new county jail. Pierce Pepin lost out on the bid to Xcel Energy by a close vote on the ad hoc jail committee.
Committee members spoke up defended their handling of the bids. Both those who supported Xcel and those supporting Pierce Pepin said the bidding process was fair and transparent.
More on this meeting will be in the New Year's edition of the Prescott Journal, on newsstands Dec. 30.
