CLIFTON - The Town of Clifton Board voted unanimously to proceed with plans to build a new town hall at their monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
David Cihasty of the Architectural Design Group said that current town hall, built in 1894, simply cannot meet the needs of the township without extensive remodeling and repair work to bring up to code and any minor repair work would be just quick fixes delaying the inevitable and will also not solve problems of lack of space and modern functions.
Board members looked at potential designs for a new building and expressed the desire to keep cost for a new building within $350,000. The agreed to a motion to get cost estimates for the new building.
The town budget hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12.
