OAK GROVE TWP. - The Oak Grove Town Board voted 3-2 in favor of hiring the law firm of Williamson and Siler in New Richmond as new legal counsel for the township. The vote was made during the town board’s monthly meeting Monday evening.
Four bids were made to represent the township. Besides Williamson and Siler there were the law firms of Rodli, Beskar, Neuhaus, Murray and Pletcher SC of River Falls along with the Prescott firm of Heywood, Cari and Anderson and the Minneapolis municipal law firm of Ratwik, Rozak and Maloney. RRM had the cheapest hourly rate at $145 while the rest were $150 but William and Siler, which represents the City of New Richmond, filled the criteria spelled out by Town Board member Eugene Schommer.
“We’re looking for a firm which is local and understands Wisconsin statutes and law procedures,” Schommer said. “We need a change as far as legal representation and we can always change again if the need arises”
Schommer and board members Gary Huppert and Jerry Kosin voted in favor of hiring Williamson and Siler while voting against were Chairwoman Sarah Palodichuk and board member Debbie McClure.
