RIVER FALLS - (uwrfsports.com) Nick Jacobsen, Sophomore, DL (Prescott, Wis.) was named WIAC Football Special Team Player of the Week.
Jacobsen blocked an extra point in overtime in a 21-20 victory against UW-La Crosse on Oct. 3. He did so during UWRF's Homecoming game at Ramer Field, helping the Falcons win their conference opener for the first time since 2008.
UW-River Falls took a 21-14 lead on their first possession in overtime and the Eagles responded with a touchdown, but Jacobsen blocked the game-tying extra point try. He also had an interception on defense in the victory.
Jacobsen is a starting defensive tackle for the Falcons. So far this season he's had 13 tackles, five for loss including two sacks, one interception, two pass break-ups, three hurries and he's recovered two fumbles.
Jacobsen is one of three Prescott players on the UWRF roster. Also on the roster is senior defensive lineman Chris Krech and redshirt freshman kicker Owen Schommer.
UWRF improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC. The Falcons are at UW-Eau Claire this Saturday at Carson Park. Kick-off is at 1 p.m .
