The Cardinals fell behind 14-0 but scored early in the second quarter on a well-executed drive capped by a six-yard TD pass from quarterback Luke Murphy to receiver Keegan Nielsen.
But that was as close as the Cardinals would come to the No. 5 ranked Panthers, 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the Middle Border Conference. SCC did not punt until the middle of the second half as they scored on all their first half drives for a 42-13 halftime lead. Prescott's defense was unable to contain Central's option offense.
Indeed, the first time Central faced a fourth down, they scored just before halftime on a fake field goal, a three-yard TD by Evan Nielsen. SCC scored on several big plays like a 54-yard pass, a 38-yard run, a 25-yard run, an 80-yard run and an 85-yard kick-off return by Nielsen in the third quarter.
PHS' had two other touchdowns, a 81-yard from scrimmage by Nolan Schock in the second quarter and a 48-yard TD pass from Murphy to Nielsen in the third quarter.
Prescott concludes its season 3-4 in the MBC and 4-5 overall, its first losing season since 2010.
