The Prescott Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting at Freedom Park in the Great River Road Visitors and Learning Center last week Wednesday.
Jessica Bierbrauer was the main speaker. She talked of the history of Freedom Park, how it was once known as Tourist Park and became Freedom Park in honor of the freed American hostages held for 444 days in Iran back in 1982. Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the Great River Road Visitors and Learning Center, which is jointly operated by the City of Prescott and by a non-profit foundation.
She also talked about upcoming events at the park for Prescott Daze and next year, which includes a Stargazer program with Mike Lynch in March and the Park’s Great River Gala in April. A big picnic is also being planned for next summer in honor of the 10th anniversary. Bierbrauer also said the center would feature work by local artists ever 4-6 weeks.
The final winners of the calendar raffle include: 8/28 - Brady Hescke $50; 8/29 - Rick Murphy $50; 8/30 - Linda Bjorkland $75 and 8/31 - Brianne Gaard $50
The Treasurer’s Report showed $9,836.57 in both checking and money market accounts and the membership count is at 110, which is up one from last year at this time.
The meeting also went over Prescott Daze activities, the recent new school district teacher and staff luncheon and setting up next month’s meeting.
