PHS teams have mixed results from weekend events

Prescott High School sports teams had mixed success in events over the weekend.

The PHS football team was shutout by Somerset 27-0 Friday in Somerset. The Cardinals drop to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Middle Border Conference. The win was the Spartans' first this season. Prescott is at New Richmond this Friday.

The PHS cross country teams took part in the 13-school Osceola Invitational on Saturday. The girls' team placed third and the boys' were fifth. The Cards' will be in action Thursday at the Durand Invite.

Prescott's volleyball team downed Somerset in their Middle Border Conference opener by a 3-2 outcome Thursday. PHS then finished second in the River Falls Invitational on Saturday. Prescott went 4-1 in the five-team meet, losing only to the host Wildcats whom they beat earlier in the week. The Cardinal, 26-5 overall, play at New Richmond on Tuesday and host Osceola Thursday.

The PHS girls' golf team had its meet at Osceola Thursday rained out.  They will make up today and will play at Somerset tomorrow.
